Soccer is a game, but at its core, it is a form of Art …  an artistic expression of individual and collective personalities on the grass canvas. At its best, a Monet! But to play the game at its best or strive to get there, requires an immense amount of commitment and joy.

Having played the beautiful game on three different continents and experienced the joy and pain of coaching for the past 15 years, I continuously reflect upon the game, player development, evolution of styles and systems of play, and teaching methodology. To play the game artfully requires a strong technical foundation for sure, but also vision of space and time and of the movement of individual players within a collective team concept.

I consider myself a passionate coach. I believe we always play the game to win, but that results are so often determined by what we do on the training ground. We fully adopt the “train the way we want to play” mentality; with ambition, intensity, and a passion for the game.

At MPS Academy, we feel a responsibility to teach and play the game in the “right way”; to strive for excellence in style of play; to play attractive, possession-oriented, dynamic, attacking football; to play with an identity; to entertain; to strive for the sport as art.

We seek to accelerate the development of the youth soccer player in the United States. Our methodology is based on a curriculum that reinforces the key principles of play and is the foundation for implementing varying systems of play.
